Approximately 125 people came to the First Church in Boston today for a Community Meeting on Gun Violence. We screened Living for 32, a powerful documentary about the April 2007 shooting at Virginia Tech that killed 32 people and wounded 17 more. John Rosenthal of Stop Handgun Violence spoke about his experiences with activism for reducing gun violence.
Members of Citizens for Sensible Gun Policy and Advocates for Safe and Sound Gun Laws marched in the St. Patrick’s Day Peace parade behind a “Never Forget Newtown” banner. The St. Patrick’s Day Peace parade began in 2012 when the Allied War Veteran’s Council barred Veterans for Peace and LGBT groups from marching in the original St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
